Differences between National and Local firms
Local
- Member of Portland Buy Local and Keeping Maine Strong, and local owned and operated.
- Ties to local community. Donations to local charities. All of our accounts are maintained locally including banking, accounting, printing services, and web development. This means we are contributing to maintaining jobs in Maine, unlike a corporate company who runs everything out of a corporate office instead of hiring local companies to assist with their satellite offices.
- Advocate Maine Public Adjusting is prepared to work as soon as a contract is signed. We will start our estimating and notifying your insurance carrier immediately and will not need to notify a corporate office that a claim has been signed. We prepare the entire claim package from beginning to end. We typically handle a few claims at a time.
National
- Sales people turn over claims to adjusters, they are only there to close the sale and you will not hear from them after your claim is assigned to an adjuster. Typically it will take 24 – 72 hours to get their adjuster, and or estimators to your loss, assuming they reside in Maine and some don’t.
- Separate departments including adjusting, estimating, inventorying, accounting, and numerous managers. The more people involved in a claim leads to confusion.
- Adjusters typically handle many files taking away from customer service and focusing on your claim. They will have national accounts; your adjuster may have to travel out of state for days on end to handle their national accounts leading them to not focus on your claim.
